Does taking a cold shower help with fever?

I'm running a high fever and feeling incredibly hot right now. I'm thinking of taking a cold shower to bring my temperature down fast. Is taking a cold shower a good idea to help with fever?

I remember feeling so desperate to bring down my high fever that I thought of jumping into a freezing cold shower. It is a very scary feeling, but please don't do it as it can shock your body.

A cold shower is not recommended; always go for lukewarm water instead. Because of my thyroid condition, my temperature regulation is already sensitive, so I always consult my doctor if a fever stays.

I totally get it, you just want to cool down fast when your body is burning up. But a cold shower actually makes you shiver, which raises your core temperature even more.

Do not follow internet myths about cold showers curing fever, it is dangerous. Consult a proper medical professional and take prescribed fever reducers instead.

Avoid cold showers completely as they strain the body. Sip on warm vegetable broth and get plenty of rest to help your body fight the infection naturally.
