Does synthetic grass cause cancer?

We are planning to get synthetic grass for our backyard play area for the kids. My husband's colleague mentioned some concerns about it possibly causing cancer. Is there any evidence that synthetic grass causes cancer, or is it just a rumor?

Modern things have too many chemicals nowadays, so it is always better to stay close to nature. Walking barefoot on real green grass in the morning is highly beneficial for your eyes and overall health. Try to avoid these artificial materials in your home garden if possible.

We installed artificial turf on our balcony last year because maintaining real grass was too difficult in the heat. I have read some debates online about chemicals in the rubber infill, but we haven't experienced any issues. We just wash it regularly to keep it clean.

A lot of outdoor sports pitches use synthetic grass and there's always a debate about the chemicals. Honestly, the health benefits of staying active, running, and playing football far outweigh these theoretical risks. Just focus on your daily fitness and clean up well after playing.

If you are worried about chemicals on sports turfs, just focus on doing your daily walking and jogging in natural parks instead. As long as your doctor allows regular outdoor exercise, natural environments are always the best choice for both physical and mental well-being.

There are some concerns about lead and PFAS chemicals in older synthetic turf, but newer ones are highly regulated. When I asked an oncologist friend, he said there is no definitive scientific evidence linking modern synthetic grass directly to cancer. Still, washing hands after playing on it is a good hygiene practice.

We play football on turf almost every weekend and never really thought about this. I think it is mostly an internet rumor unless you are literally eating the rubber particles. Just wash your feet and hands after playing and don't overthink it, bro.
