Does sweating out a fever work?
I recently had a fever, and my uncle insisted that I bundle up and sweat it out. I did, and I felt a bit better, but I'm still curious: does sweating out a fever actually work scientifically?

I have tried wrapping myself in heavy blankets and drinking hot kadha to sweat out fevers, but it only made me feel extremely dizzy. A simple damp cloth on the forehead and staying under a comfortable fan works much better to bring down temperature safely.
It is actually a myth that you can force a fever out by sweating! 🌡️ Let your body cool down naturally, drink lots of water, and get some rest. Take care! 😊
Trying to force a sweat won't cure a viral infection. If the fever stays high for more than 48 hours, it is cheaper to get a basic CBC test done early rather than waiting and paying for emergency care later.
The idea of sweating out a fever is technically incorrect. Sweating only happens when the fever is already breaking on its own. Keep your room temperature pleasant, drink coconut water to replenish electrolytes, and don't smother yourself with quilts.
I get so anxious when my temperature rises that I start shivering, and then I sweat a lot. Does anyone else feel like they are freezing even when they are sweating during a fever? It is very unsettling.
Please don't rely on sweating it out. I once ignored a high fever thinking I could just sweat it out overnight, and it turned out to be severe dengue that required hospitalization. Get your blood tested if the fever doesn't go away.
Being sick is already so physically and emotionally draining. Trying to force yourself to sweat just adds more discomfort to an already miserable situation. Please be gentle with yourself, rest, and let the medicine do its job.

The body has its own wisdom and heals in its own time. Do not force any process like sweating; instead, keep your mind calm, drink warm water, and trust that this phase will soon pass. Take care of yourself.
Honestly, instead of suffering under thick blankets to sweat, I just have some warm chicken or tomato soup. It hydrates you, makes you feel cozy, and is much better than being drenched in sweat while sick.
Whenever I get a fever, I just take my doctor's prescribed medicine and rest in a normal room. I never try to force myself to sweat because it just makes me feel more exhausted and dehydrated.
