Does sun exposure help eczema?

My child has mild eczema, and sometimes when we take him out in the sun for a short while, his skin seems to improve. I've heard some people say sun exposure can help skin conditions. Does sun exposure actually help alleviate eczema symptoms?

Moderate UV light can actually reduce inflammation in eczema, which is why phototherapy exists. However, uncontrolled sun exposure can cause sweating, which triggers flares. Consult your dermatologist for a balanced approach.

In my experience, sitting in the soft morning sun for just 10 minutes helps dry out my skin patches and reduces itching. But never go out in the hot afternoon sun as that will only make your skin burn and itch more.

Actually, it is a double-edged sword, yaar. A little morning sun gives Vitamin D which is great, but if you start sweating in the heat, the eczema will itch like crazy. Better to be very careful.

Sun exposure helps synthesize vitamin D, which boosts immunity and helps heal skin naturally from within. Along with a clean plant-based diet, getting 10 minutes of gentle morning sun can definitely improve your skin texture.

I tried everything from neem paste to coconut oil for my eczema. I found that a little early morning sun, followed by applying pure virgin coconut oil, really helped soothe my dry patches. Just don't let your skin get overheated.
