Does sugar diabetes make you sleepy?

My father has had sugar diabetes for many years, and lately, he seems very tired and sleepy, especially after meals. He insists it's normal for diabetics. Does sugar diabetes really make you feel sleepy, or could it be something else?

My father used to feel extremely drowsy after lunch, and when we checked at Medanta, his post-meal sugar was very high. High or low blood sugar levels can directly cause severe fatigue. Please don't ignore this sleepiness and get a proper medical checkup from a specialist.

Haan na, sugar levels when they fluctuate, body completely drains out and we feel so sleepy. My mother also complains about this heavy feeling after meals. It is better to check sugar levels during those sleepy hours to know what is actually happening.

My teenage daughter has Type 1 diabetes, and we noticed she gets very lethargic and sleepy when her blood sugar spikes. As a parent, I keep a close watch on her diet and glucose monitor. If your child is unusually sleepy, please consult their pediatrician immediately.

I have been feeling so tired and sleepy in the afternoons lately, even after a full night's sleep. My uncle has diabetes, so now I am panicking if this is an early sign of sugar issues. Has anyone else experienced this sudden midday fatigue before getting diagnosed?

I used to fall asleep at my office desk after lunch due to my high sugar levels. Once my doctor adjusted my medication and I started walking for 15 minutes after eating, my afternoon drowsiness vanished. Keep your meals low-carb and stay active.

Yes, absolutely. When your blood sugar is high, the glucose cannot enter your cells to give you energy, which makes you feel extremely tired and sleepy. Keep a regular log of your fasting and post-meal sugar levels, and share it with your doctor for proper dosage adjustment.

I was reading some articles about insulin spikes and it mentioned that high sugar makes the brain release serotonin, which makes you want to sleep. It is crazy how directly our blood glucose affects our daily alertness. Does drinking water help lower that instant drowsiness?

Look, if your sugar is fluctuating, sleepiness is a very common signal your body gives you. Stop sitting around and hoping it will go away. Go get your HbA1c tested tomorrow morning and show it to a doctor, no excuses.
