Does sugar cause kidney stones?

My brother recently suffered from kidney stones, and the doctor advised him on a specific diet. I heard from a relative that eating too much sugar can lead to kidney stones. Is there any direct link between sugar consumption and the formation of kidney stones?

Yes, high sugar, especially fructose in soft drinks, makes the body excrete more calcium in urine, which forms stones. Drinking plenty of water daily is the best defense.

While oxalates are usually blamed, high refined sugar intake is another major trigger because it affects calcium absorption. I suggest focusing on a balanced vegetarian diet with less processed food and moderate salt. Always discuss with a dietician before making major changes.

It definitely plays a huge role. Those packaged fruit juices and sodas are loaded with fructose which messes up your uric acid levels and leads to stones. Cut the liquid sugar completely and stick to plain water.

Haan, bilkul direct connect toh nahi bol sakte, par sugar se weight badhta hai aur calcium flow bigadta hai, toh pathri ka chance badh jata hai na. Sweets thoda kam khao aur paani dabake piyo bhai. Doctor se ek baar checkup kara lo agar dard ho toh.

My roommate had a kidney stone last semester and he literally cried from the pain. The doctor told him to stop drinking those sweet energy drinks and canned teas during late-night study sessions. I have also reduced my sweet intake since then, not risking that pain at all!

Treating kidney stones later with surgery can cost a lot of money in private hospitals. It is much cheaper to spend 500 rupees on a basic kidney function and urine test now to see if everything is fine. Prevention by reducing cheap sugary snacks is the best way to save your health and money.
