Does sugar cause a fatty liver?

My brother was recently diagnosed with a fatty liver, and his doctor told him to make drastic diet changes. I'm wondering about the role of sugar in this. Does consuming too much sugar directly lead to developing a fatty liver?

Honestly, excess sugar, especially from cold drinks and sweets, gets converted to fat in the liver very fast. I drink lukewarm water with lemon in the morning and cut down sugar completely. But if you are feeling very tired or have stomach pain, please get an ultrasound and see a doc immediately.

Yes, especially refined sugar and high fructose corn syrup are major culprits for non-alcoholic fatty liver. In our vegetarian diet, we often eat too many carbs and sweet treats without realizing the load on our liver. Try replacing sweets with fresh fruits, but do consult a proper nutritionist for a personalized diet plan.

It absolutely does. People think only alcohol ruins the liver, but sugar is equally bad if you are living a sedentary lifestyle. Stop those daily sugary sodas and packaged juices first. Get a regular LFT test done to actually know your liver health status.

I was reading about this last week because my uncle got diagnosed with fatty liver even though he never drinks alcohol. It turns out that excess fructose goes straight to the liver and turns into fat. It is quite scary how hidden sugar in daily foods can do this. Has anyone here tried a zero-sugar diet for this?

I have been managing my blood pressure for ten years and my doctor always warns me about sugar and liver fat. Lifestyle is everything, na. You must do regular blood tests and keep your weight in check. Don't ignore mild symptoms, just go for a complete body checkup.

In my experience, heavy sugar heavy foods block the body's natural flow and overload the liver. Along with cutting down sweet things, practicing Kapalbhati and daily walks helped my digestion immensely. Keep your mind calm and give your body simple, satvik food to heal.
