Does sudafed help with fever?

My younger son has had a slight fever for the past day, along with a bit of a cold. Someone suggested giving him Sudafed, but I'm not sure if it helps with fever specifically. Can Sudafed actually bring down a fever, or is it just for cold symptoms?

Oh, please be careful! Sudafed is mainly for a blocked nose, it doesn't directly target fever. If you have a high fever, it's better to check with a doctor right away to make sure it's nothing serious.

I didn't know much about this medicine, but I read it is only for sinus pressure. Does it mean we have to take a separate medicine if we have both cold and fever?

No bro, Sudafed won't touch your fever. It only clears up a stuffed nose. Take paracetamol for the fever, but consult a doc if the temperature is too high.

I was looking this up earlier because of a bad cold. It turns out Sudafed only shrinks swollen blood vessels in your nose to help you breathe, it doesn't lower body temperature at all.

Sudafed is a decongestant and not designed to reduce temperature. Because I have thyroid, I always consult my physician before taking such medicines, and you should too if you have a fever.

According to most symptom trackers, Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) is strictly a nasal decongestant. To manage a fever, you need an antipyretic like paracetamol. Keep logging your temperature to monitor the trend.

Fever can make you feel so exhausted, I hope you are taking enough rest. Sudafed will only help if you have a blocked nose, so definitely check with a pharmacist or doctor for the right fever medication.
