Does strep throat come with a fever?

A really bad sore throat hit me this morning. My wife thinks it might be strep, but I don't feel feverish at all. Can strep throat come without a fever?

Yes, it usually does. When I visited my doctor for a severe sore throat, she explained that a sudden onset of fever is one of the classic clinical signs that distinguishes bacterial strep from a common viral cold. She advised getting a quick throat culture to confirm.

Yes, a warm temperature is very common with strep. While you are taking the medicines prescribed by your doctor, doing warm salt water gargles twice a day is a very cost-effective way to get some relief from the throat pain.

Normally, a fever does accompany strep throat. Sipping on warm herbal tea with ginger and honey can provide wonderful comfort to your throat, but please remember that a bacterial infection needs proper medical evaluation and should not be treated with home remedies alone.

Yes, throat pain often brings a high fever with it. Please wrap a warm cloth around your neck and rest well. It is best to visit the local government hospital or clinic so they can give you the right medicine soon.
