Does strep throat always cause a fever?

For two days now, I've had a really bad sore throat, and it's making it hard to swallow. My throat looks red too, but no fever yet. I heard strep throat is common, so I wanted to know if it always causes a fever.

Not necessarily always, but it is a very common symptom. Because our bodies can respond so differently to infections, it is hard to say for sure. If your throat is very sore, it might be a good idea to consult a doctor just to check.

Usually, yes, heavy warm feeling in the body comes with throat pain. But sometimes people only get a bad dry throat without much fever. Please take some warm ginger tea and show a doctor in town if the pain is too much.

While fever is one of the classic signs of strep throat, some adults actually don't get much of a temperature at all. You might just have severe throat pain and difficulty swallowing. It is always wise to get a professional opinion when you feel this unwell.

Fever is very common with strep, but you can occasionally have it without a temperature. If you do have a fever, please avoid any heavy workouts or running. Only stick to light walking inside the house once your doctor says it is okay.

I was researching this and found out that while kids almost always get a fever with strep, some adults might experience it with just a sore throat and body aches. It seems a medical swab is the only real way to know for sure.
