Does strep always cause fever?

My son has a very sore throat, but no fever yet. The doctor mentioned strep throat as a possibility, but I thought strep always came with a fever. Does strep throat always cause a fever, or can you have it without one?

Not always, but in most cases, a sudden fever is one of the classic signs of a strep throat infection. If you have severe throat pain but no fever, it could still be strep or a viral issue. Keep drinking warm water and get a throat swab done if it persists.

Over the years, I have seen my children and grandchildren get throat infections. Sometimes they would have terrible throat pain with absolutely no fever, and other times the fever would be very high. Don't worry, just keep them comfortable and consult a doctor.

Our bodies have unique ways of dealing with infections, so symptoms can vary from person to person. Even without a fever, rest your voice, drink some warm herbal water, and keep a calm mind. Let a doctor guide you on the healing path.

My throat is burning so badly and I can barely swallow, but my temperature is totally normal. I am so confused if this is strep or something else. Has anyone else had a confirmed strep throat without any fever? I'm getting a bit worried.

Hey, take a deep breath. While fever is a very common reaction, you can definitely have strep throat without any temperature. Keep doing warm gargles, rest well, and please see a doctor today so they can look at your throat and give you the right medicine.

Actually yaar, it is not mandatory to have a fever every time. Last year I had this crazy throat infection, no fever at all, but the doctor did a swab and it was strep. So don't assume it's normal just because there's no fever, better to get it checked.

My younger sister just recovered from strep throat. She didn't run a fever at all, just had swollen tonsils and a really bad dry cough. We did warm salt water gargles which helped her throat, but the doctor still had to prescribe antibiotics to clear it.
