Does soda cause kidney stones?

My husband recently had kidney stones, and the doctor advised him to avoid sugary drinks. It made me wonder, does soda cause kidney stones? I want to make sure I'm giving my family the right advice.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to worry about kidney stones, I used to panic over every little side pain. Yes, certain sodas, especially dark ones, have high phosphoric acid which can increase stone risk. Drinking plenty of normal water really helps ease the anxiety.

Dark sodas are high in oxalates and phosphoric acid, which are known to contribute to kidney stone formation. It is always better to stay hydrated with normal water, lemon water, or barley water instead. If you have severe lower back pain, please consult a doc.

Haan bhai, colas and sodas are not good for our health, they create stones in the stomach area. Our elders always said to drink fresh matka water or nimbu paani to keep the body cool and clean. Avoid these bottled drinks.

In my 60 years, I have seen many youngsters drinking soft drinks instead of water. Soda definitely dehydrates you, which is the main cause of kidney stones. Keep it simple, drink 3 liters of plain water daily and you will stay safe.

I barely sleep 5 hours and survive on caffeine, but even I avoid sodas because my cousin got kidney stones from it. The pain sounded absolutely brutal. Water is boring, but kidney stones are way worse, trust me.

Soda can definitely increase the risk of kidney stones due to high fructose corn syrup and phosphoric acid. If you are experiencing any sharp side or back pain, please don't wait. Get an ultrasound done and consult a urologist.

I used to drink sparkling water and sodas a lot, but after learning how they contribute to kidney stones, I got scared. Now I make my own infused water with cucumber and mint. It feels fancy, tastes great, and is totally safe!

I can't give medical advice, but my uncle who was a heavy cola drinker suffered from chronic kidney stones for years. Once he completely cut out soda and switched to plain water, he never got them again. That was enough to make me stop.

I ignored minor back pain and kept drinking soda, which resulted in a blocked kidney due to a large stone. I had to go through a painful laser surgery. Please see a doctor immediately if you have symptoms, and stop these drinks.

Bhai, I had a 5mm kidney stone last year and the doctor clearly told me to stop drinking cola immediately. The high sugar and phosphoric acid inside it are bad news. Just drink normal water and save yourself from that crazy pain.

At 50, my body gives me a new warning light every week! Yes, soda can cause stones because it is loaded with sugar and dehydrates your system. Better to stick to plain old water unless you want to experience the joy of passing a stone.

Unless you want to grow actual rocks inside your body, please skip the soda! It is basically a factory for kidney stones. Stick to water and keep those internal minerals well-behaved.
