Does smoking cause throat pain?

I've started smoking recently and sometimes my throat feels a bit scratchy or sore. Could this be related to smoking? Does smoking cause throat pain?

Whenever I get a persistent throat issue, I visit a specialist at a proper hospital instead of guessing. Smoking absolutely irritates the lining of your throat and causes pain and dryness. You should get a doctor to check it thoroughly to rule out any serious damage.

Having thyroid issues taught me never to ignore any throat discomfort or pain. Smoking causes severe irritation in the throat passage and can make existing issues worse. Please get regular throat and thyroid checkups from a doctor if the pain doesn't go away.

My college-going son started having a constant dry cough and throat pain, and we later found out it was due to smoking with his friends. Warm salt water gargles gave him temporary relief, but the pain only stopped when he quit smoking completely. Please take care of yourself.

Yes, smoking causes direct throat pain because the hot chemical smoke dries out and inflames your throat tissues. It also makes you more prone to throat infections. Try drinking warm water and definitely cut down on the smoking to let your throat heal.

Oh god, throat pain can be so scary because you start worrying if it's something really bad. Smoking is definitely a big culprit because it constantly irritates the throat lining. Honestly, the anxiety is not worth it, so please get a doctor to look at it soon just to be safe.
