Does sleep deprivation icreasw chance of sick?

I seem to catch a cold or fever every other month, and I'm constantly running on very little sleep due to my night shifts. My mom says my immunity is low. Does sleep deprivation increase one's chances of falling sick often?

Defnitely yes. Whenever my fitness band shows my recovery score is low for 3-4 days because of poor sleep, I almost always catch a cold or fever. Sleep keeps your immunity strong.

I was just reading about this yesterday. Actually, our immune system releases proteins called cytokines during sleep, which help fight infections. So yeah, less sleep definitely makes us prone to falling sick.

Yes indeed, your immune cells called cytokines are produced mainly during sleep. Without enough sleep, your body cannot fight off common viruses. Try to have a fixed bedtime.

Absolutely. If you keep sleeping for 4 hours, your immunity is going to hit rock bottom. No amount of vitamin tablets can replace a solid 8-hour sleep.

Lack of sleep increases stress hormones, which spikes blood sugar and lowers immunity. For diabetics, this makes us very vulnerable to infections. Please prioritize your rest.

I feel you, even a minor typo in your question shows you might be really tired right now! Yes, our body fights off infections when we sleep, so less sleep means you get sick easily.

At my age, if I miss even one night of sleep, my body acts like it has run a marathon and I catch a cold the next day. Sleep is literally our shield now, don't ignore it!

Yes, sleep is nature's way of protecting our body. When we rest, our inner energy heals and strengthens our immune system. Sleep well and stay positive, your body will take care of itself.

Getting sick means spending on doctor consultations and medicines, which is a big waste of money. Sleeping 8 hours a day is absolutely free and saves you from these unnecessary clinic visits.

Haan babu, sound sleep keeps our body strong. If we don't sleep, our body becomes weak and bad weather or viral infections catch us very quickly. Sleep on time and drink warm milk.
