Does sleep apnea cause reflux?

My husband has sleep apnea, and lately he's also been complaining a lot about acid reflux, especially after dinner. Could these two things be connected? Does sleep apnea sometimes lead to or worsen reflux symptoms?

I am new to this group and still trying to understand my symptoms. I have been having severe acidity at night and loud snoring. Does sleep apnea actually cause the stomach acid to come up, or could it be just my late dinners?

When our breathing is disturbed, our whole inner energy and body system get upset. Yes, sleep apnea can cause acid reflux because the pressure changes in the throat pull stomach acid upwards. Keep a positive mind, do some gentle prayers, and consult a good doctor.

When we gasp for breath during sleep, a vacuum is created in the chest, which sucks the stomach juices upwards into the throat. Daily practice of mild pranayama like Anulom Vilom helps strengthen the respiratory muscles. Do seek medical guidance for the main apnea issue.

Yo, my uncle had this crazy acidity every single night and he was taking antacids like candy. Turns out it was actually due to his sleep apnea. Once he got a CPAP machine, his reflux totally disappeared.

Yes, sleep apnea and GERD are closely linked. The negative pressure created in the chest to overcome the blocked airway forces acid up the esophagus. If you are busy, save time by booking a specialist consultation directly instead of trying random home remedies.

Haan na, reflux and sleep apnea have a direct connection. People think it is only because of spicy food, but actually the breathing struggle puts pressure on the stomach. Do consult a specialist to check if you need a sleep study.

Bro, I used to wake up choking with a burning throat almost every night. I thought it was just bad food habits, but my doctor told me it is because of my sleep apnea. Getting that treated is the only way to solve this reflux.

Don't worry, it is a very common issue. The physical pressure of trying to breathe against a blocked airway during apnea episodes naturally pushes stomach acid up. Please get a proper sleep evaluation done, it will resolve both problems.

I have been waking up with a bitter taste in my mouth and severe chest burning. I also snore a lot, so I am really scared if this is sleep apnea causing it. Did anyone else experience this before getting diagnosed?

While eating a light, fiber-rich vegetarian dinner at least 3 hours before sleep helps with acidity, it cannot cure sleep apnea-induced reflux. The breathing blockage must be medically treated to stop the negative chest pressure from pulling acid up.

I used to blame my love for butter chicken for my night reflux, but my doctor found out it was sleep apnea! When you gasp for air, the stomach acid gets sucked up. It is not just about the food, do get your breathing checked.

I recently finished my sleep apnea therapy and my constant acid reflux is completely gone. When you stop breathing, the pressure changes in your chest literally pull acid up your throat. Treating the apnea is what fixed my gut issues.
