Does skin cancer burn?

There's a spot on my hand that sometimes feels like it's burning, especially after sun exposure. Does skin cancer often present with a burning sensation like this, or could it be something else?

I had a mole that used to feel itchy and had a slight burning sensation whenever I was out in the sun. I got it checked by a dermatologist just to be safe, and thankfully it was benign. But yes, skin cancer can definitely burn or feel tender, so please get it looked at.

Hey, don't stress too much right now, but a burning sensation can definitely happen with some skin changes. Just to put your mind at ease, make a quick appointment with a dermatologist. It's always better to get these things sorted out early by a pro!

According to dermatological studies, while many skin cancers are asymptomatic, lesions like squamous cell carcinoma can cause a burning, painful, or stinging sensation. My doctor emphasized that any localized burning sensation associated with a new or changing spot warrants a professional evaluation.
