Does sickle cell patients get malaria?

My friends and I had a debate about sickle cell disease and malaria. Do people with sickle cell disease actually get malaria, or are they immune to it somehow?

Yes, sickle cell patients absolutely can get malaria, and it can actually trigger a painful sickle cell crisis for them. While carriers of the trait have some natural protection against severe forms, those with the actual disease must take extreme care. Always use mosquito nets and keep your surroundings clean.

Haan babu, sickle cell bimari wale logon ko bhi malaria ho sakta hai. Unka khoon pehle se hi thoda kamzor hota hai, isiliye unhe machhar se bachkar rehna chahiye. Agar tez bukhar aaye toh turant doctor ke paas jana chahiye.

Let's be very clear: yes, they do get malaria. It is a dangerous myth that they are immune. If a sickle cell patient gets infected, they need immediate hospitalization and medical monitoring to prevent severe complications.

Haan, sickle cell patients ko bilkul malaria ho sakta hai, aur unhe toh aur bhi sambhal kar rehna padta hai. Sasta gharelu nuskha kaam nahi karega yahan, toh doctor se milkar regular checkup karwate raho, thik hai na?

Hey, don't stress too much but yes, they can catch malaria just like anyone else. If you or someone you know has sickle cell, just focus on keeping the mosquitoes away and consult your doctor for safe preventive medicines. Take care!
