Does shampoo help with dandruff?

My scalp has been so itchy and flaky lately, I'm pretty sure it's dandruff. Can just any regular shampoo help get rid of it, or do I need a special anti-dandruff one?

Of course it does, unless you are using plain water and hoping for a miracle! Just make sure to buy an actual anti-dandruff shampoo containing ketoconazole, not just a fancy-smelling one.

I worry so much about scalp infections whenever I see flakes! Regular shampoos might not work and can dry your scalp more. Try a mild ketoconazole shampoo once a week, but please don't scrub too hard or you might damage your scalp.

I ignored my dandruff and kept changing shampoos, which caused a severe scalp infection and massive hair loss. If normal over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoos don't work in two weeks, please see a dermatologist immediately.

At my age, my hair is already thinning, so dandruff is the last thing I need! Regular cosmetic shampoos are useless for this. Get a proper medical anti-dandruff shampoo from the chemist and use it twice a week.

My son had severe dandruff during his exams due to stress. We tried many home remedies, but a gentle anti-dandruff shampoo recommended by our doctor twice a week cleared it up completely. Make sure they wash their hair regularly.
