Does sex help pass kidney stones?

I'm currently suffering from a kidney stone, and the pain is terrible. A friend told me that having sex can sometimes help in passing kidney stones. Is there any medical basis for this, or is it just a myth?

Studies suggest that nitric oxide released during intimacy can help relax the lower ureter, which might assist in passing small stones under 6mm. My urologist mentioned this can be a supportive method, but it is not a replacement for proper medical treatment and hydration.

Yes, actually some studies show it can help relax the ureter muscles to pass small stones. Just keep drinking lots of water too.

Whether it helps or not, the most practical solution is to drink 3-4 liters of water daily. Get a simple ultrasound done to see the size of the stone first. If it is too big, you will need proper medicine from a doctor anyway.

I totally get it, kidney stone pain is absolutely excruciating and you want any way to find relief. Some people do find it helps relax the muscles to let the stone pass. Please make sure you are also drinking plenty of water to flush it out safely.

I don't know about that, but drinking lots of barley water and fresh coconut water helped me clear my stones in a week. Skip the heavy parathas for a few days and keep flushing your system with fluids.
