Does sea salt spray cause dandruff?

I've started using a sea salt spray for my hair recently for some texture. But off late, I've noticed more flakes on my scalp. Could the sea salt spray be causing dandruff?

Listen, don't worry too much. Sea salt spray itself doesn't cause dandruff, but it can dry out your scalp completely if you use it daily. Just make sure to wash it off well and use a good moisturizing conditioner so your scalp stays healthy.

I used sea salt spray for that beachy wave look last year and ended up with a super itchy, flaky scalp. It wasn't actual dandruff fungus, just extreme dryness. Now I only use it twice a week and always oil my hair the night before washing it.

Yes, it can cause severe dryness which looks exactly like dandruff. Better to limit its use and wash your hair thoroughly.

Any external chemical or heavy salt styling can irritate the skin. Just like I have to manage my BP through diet and regular checkups, you have to monitor how your skin reacts to these products. If the flaking doesn't stop, better to see a skin doctor.

I completely feel you, dealing with scalp flakes is so embarrassing and exhausting. I used sea salt spray hoping for nice hair but it just ruined my scalp and made me feel so self-conscious. Please give your hair a break from styling products, it really helps the healing process.
