Does school affect mental health?

My son has been very stressed since starting his new school this year. He's withdrawn and not sleeping well. I'm worried about how much pressure school puts on kids nowadays, and if it affects their mental health directly.

Of course it does, let's not pretend otherwise. The hyper-competitive environment in Indian schools, the endless tuitions, and constant comparison can drain any kid's mental energy. We need to stop prioritizing marks over a child's psychological well-being.

My father always told me that academic pressure should never come at the cost of peace of mind. School stress, exam anxiety, and peer pressure can seriously impact a young person's mental health. If the stress is becoming too hard to handle, talking to a school counselor or a therapist is highly recommended.

My own daughter faced severe anxiety and panic attacks due to school-related pressure last year. We ignored it initially thinking it was just exam fear, which was a huge mistake. Please consult a child psychologist if you notice sudden mood changes or sleep issues in your child.

Sitting in a classroom for 8 hours and then studying at home can really affect a student's mental clarity. I always suggest getting them into some outdoor sport or basic gym routine. Regular physical activity is a huge stress buster for young minds.

I always give my kids warm almonds and chamomile tea in the evening to help them relax after a hectic school day. But beyond home remedies, the best medicine is a warm hug and an open ear. Let them know they are loved no matter what their report card says.

Helping my 10th-grade sibling with homework is making ME sleep-deprived and anxious, so I can only imagine what the actual students go through! The sheer volume of work they have these days is bound to affect their mental health.

Today's school life is not like our time, the pressure is double now. Yes, it affects their mental health deeply when they are expected to be perfect in everything. Parents should sit with their kids and assure them that a low score is not the end of the world.

In our days, the only school-related mental stress was getting caught copying home work! Jokes apart, the pressure today is very real and heavy, so let's make sure our kids get plenty of playtime to blow off some steam.

School can definitely be a roller-coaster for kids! 🎢 Between peer pressure, grades, and finding where you fit in, it can get really overwhelming sometimes. It is so important to keep communicating and laughing with them to ease the load! 😊

The pressure we build around board exams is crazy. As someone who got high BP at a young age due to work stress, I worry we are pushing our school kids down the same path of lifestyle diseases. Daily physical exercise and regular checkups are essential for their health.

I see so many young teenagers complaining of stomach aches and headaches, which are actually physical signs of school-related stress and anxiety. It is a very real issue. Encourage them to talk, sleep well, and don't hesitate to seek professional counseling if needed.

It actually does affect us a lot, yaar. The constant back-to-back exams and assignments leave zero time for hobbies or just chilling, which makes everyone so burnt out. Honestly, schools need to focus more on mental health and less on syllabus completion.
