Does rsv always have fever?

My little one has a runny nose and a cough, but no fever yet. My friend mentioned it could be RSV, but I thought RSV always comes with a high temperature. Is it possible to have RSV without fever?

No, RSV doesn't always cause a fever, especially in mild cases where it might just seem like a common cold. Keep monitoring their breathing though.

My mother-in-law was saying that a cold without a fever is nothing to worry about, but my doctor cleared up my confusion. He said RSV can definitely present with just a runny nose and cough, without any high temperature. It's always best to follow the pediatrician's advice.

Beta, sometimes the body fights the virus without a hot fever. If the child is breathing quickly or refusing milk, do not wait for a fever to appear. Give them warm steam and take them to the child specialist immediately.

In my days, we didn't have these specific names like RSV, but we knew that some lung congestion doesn't show fever. Don't worry, just observe how the child is sleeping and eating. If they are active and taking feeds, they will recover soon.

It is a common myth that every viral infection will show a high fever. With RSV, sometimes it's just a stubborn dry cough and nasal congestion. Keep a simple pulse oximeter handy to check oxygen levels if you feel they are struggling to breathe.

According to most pediatric health trackers, fever is common but not mandatory for RSV. I always log my baby's symptoms like respiratory rate and temperature in my app. If you notice rapid chest movements even without fever, consult your doctor.

When my younger one had RSV, she actually had a very mild, barely noticeable fever of 99°F, but her wheezing was quite bad. Every child's body reacts differently to this virus, so don't rely only on the thermometer.
