Does rosuvastatin cause muscle pain?

After starting rosuvastatin for my high cholesterol a few weeks ago, I've been experiencing some strange muscle aches, especially in my legs. My neighbour also mentioned something similar about his statin. Is this a known side effect of rosuvastatin?

Yes, muscle pain is actually a known side effect of statins. If your doctor says it's okay, try doing some light walking or gentle stretching daily. But don't push through severe pain, let your doctor know if it gets uncomfortable.

I face a lot of muscle aches because of my thyroid, and when I started statins, it got a bit worse. You should definitely get your thyroid levels and CPK levels tested. Regular follow-ups with your doctor are the only way to manage this safely.

Please take care of your health with a peaceful mind. Muscle soreness can sometimes happen, but do not let it worry you too much. Talk to your doctor gently about this, and may you find relief soon.

Don't listen to people telling you to drink random herbal decoctions for muscle pain. Statins causing muscle aches is a serious thing called myalgia. Only your doctor can tell you if you need to change the brand or dose, so go see them.

I tried warm mustard oil massages and Epsom salt baths for my leg pain, but nothing worked until my doctor reduced my statin dose. Some pains need medical adjustment, not home remedies. Do consult your doctor first.

Muscle soreness is a known side effect of statins, and it can really mess with your workout routine. Make sure you are hydrated and getting enough magnesium in your diet. Definitely consult your doc if it's affecting your daily movements.

I was researching this because my dad started having calf pain after taking this tablet. Apparently, it is one of the most common complaints with rosuvastatin. I'm asking him to mention it to his cardiologist on his next visit.

In my experience, gentle joint rotation and deep pranayama can help soothe minor body stiffness. However, statin-induced muscle pain is biochemical. Please discuss this with your physician before trying any physical therapies.

Yes, it caused muscle pain for my husband too. Drinking plenty of water and discussing a dose adjustment with his doctor really helped him.

Listen, if your legs are hurting after starting this pill, don't sit and bear it. It is a very common issue with statins. Just go to your doctor and tell them directly, they will adjust the dose or change the salt altogether.

I made the mistake of ignoring muscle pain from my cholesterol meds, thinking I just overexerted myself. It turned out my muscle enzymes were dangerously high. Please get a simple blood test done and consult your doctor immediately.

Ji, my brother also had heavy pain in his legs after starting this medicine. The doctor changed his medicine to a different one and now he is feeling much better. You also talk to your doctor, don't suffer quietly.

I wake up sore every day anyway, but my dad was complaining about actual muscle pain after starting this statin. His doctor told him it's a classic side effect. Definitely check with your doc before you start blaming your mattress like I did!

I can only tell you what happened to me. I had mild thigh pain for the first two weeks of starting rosuvastatin, but it slowly went away on its own. Still, my doctor told me to report if it becomes severe, so keep track of it.

I faced severe calf muscle pain when I started on rosuvastatin 20mg. My cardiologist immediately did a CPK test and then switched me to a lower dose along with a CoQ10 supplement. It worked wonders for me, so please ask your doctor about this option.
