Does root canal cause cancer?

My dentist suggested I need a root canal for my tooth infection, but my aunt told me she read somewhere that root canals can cause cancer. I'm really worried now. Is there any scientific basis to claims that having a root canal can lead to cancer?

I just got a root canal done last month and asked my dentist this exact same question because of some weird internet articles. He laughed and assured me it is a total myth with zero scientific basis. I felt no complications and my tooth is perfectly fine now.

Don't fall for these internet myths. I once ignored a deep tooth infection because of silly fears and ended up needing a painful extraction and implant. Go get your dental checkup done and trust your dentist before the infection gets worse.

No, there is absolutely no medical link between root canals and cancer. Millions of these procedures are performed safely every year. It actually prevents dangerous blood infections by removing decayed tissue, so please go ahead with your treatment.

This is a long-debated internet conspiracy called the 'focal infection theory' which was disproven decades ago. Root canals do not cause cancer. However, if you have severe dental pain or swelling, get it checked by a qualified dentist immediately to prevent the infection from spreading.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to read these scary claims online when you are already nervous about a dental procedure. Please don't worry, it is a completely false myth. I had two root canals done and felt the same anxiety, but it is totally safe.

No, it does not cause cancer at all. I tried using clove oil and salt water gargles for months to avoid the dentist, but finally had to get the root canal. It safely removes the infection and saves your tooth, so don't believe these scary rumors.

Actually no, yaar, that is just some old WhatsApp rumor from the internet. Root canals are super standard and safe. Don't stress about cancer and just get your cavity fixed by a good dentist.
