Does robitussin make you sleep?

I've been taking Robitussin for my persistent cough, and I've noticed I feel very drowsy and sleepy after taking it. My wife says I'm always napping. Is it common for Robitussin to make you feel sleepy, or is it just me?

Yes, absolutely. Especially the 'Nighttime' or 'DM' versions because they contain antihistamines or cough suppressants that cause major drowsiness. Don't plan on driving or doing anything important after taking it.

In my years, I have seen many family members take cough syrups that made them sleep for hours. It is very common to feel drowsy after taking these. Just rest well, let your body heal, and you will feel better by morning.

Haha, yes! It knocks you out like a light. I took the night version once for a mild cough and woke up twelve hours later wondering what year it was. Definitely use it only when you are safely in bed.

I took it last night and felt so dizzy and heavy even after waking up this morning. Is it normal to feel this groggy the next day, or did I take too much? It actually scared me a bit.

At my age, finding a good night's sleep is hard enough, so when I take this cough syrup, I actually welcome the drowsiness! Yes, it will make you very sleepy. Just make sure you don't take it before work.
