Does robitussin help with fever?

My child has a bad cough and cold, and I've been giving them Robitussin for it. They also have a mild fever. I was wondering if Robitussin also helps with reducing fever, or if I need to give a separate medication for that.

From what I know, standard Robitussin is mainly for cough and congestion, not specifically for fever. However, some of their multi-symptom versions might have paracetamol or acetaminophen in them. Just check the label carefully so you don't take the wrong thing.

Hey! Unless the bottle specifically says 'Multi-Symptom' or mentions it has fever-reducing ingredients like acetaminophen, standard Robitussin won't help with fever. For a basic fever, a normal Crocin or Dolo is usually what works best here.

Look, Robitussin is a cough syrup, not a fever medicine. If you have a fever, take Dolo or paracetamol after asking a doctor. Don't just drink cough syrup hoping the fever will go away, it doesn't work like that.

My grandmother always suggests warm rasam and steam inhalation for chest congestion, but for actual fever we must trust proper medicine. Standard Robitussin is only for cough relief. If you have a high temperature, please consult a doctor.

For fever, normal cough syrups won't do much. It is better to rest, drink plenty of warm water, and have light khichdi. If the fever is high, please consult a doctor for proper medication instead of self-treating with syrups.
