Does rice cause diabetes?

My family has a history of diabetes, and we eat a lot of rice at home daily. My mother always tells me to cut down on it. I'm worried if eating white rice regularly directly causes diabetes or contributes significantly to it.

Rice alone doesn't cause it, but eating too much white rice can spike blood sugar. Since diabetes management and regular HbA1c tests can cost a lot over time, it is highly practical to control portion sizes and mix rice with more vegetables now.

I used to eat three plates of white rice daily and ignored my frequent urination symptoms until my blood sugar crossed 300. Please don't ignore your body's signs. Get a fasting blood sugar test done to be absolutely safe.

Our ancestors ate rice twice a day and lived healthy lives because they worked hard in the fields. The issue is our modern sedentary life, not the rice itself. Eat in moderation and walk daily, that is the secret.

My family eats rice every single day, and now I am so anxious that I might develop diabetes because of it. Do you guys also feel guilty every time you eat a bowl of warm rice? How do you balance it?

Rice is a simple grain that gives sweet energy to the body. If we practice active yoga postures and pranayama daily, our body digests it beautifully. It is about matching your food intake with physical movement.
