Does rheumatoid arthritis make you tired?

Since I got my RA diagnosis, I've been feeling extremely exhausted all the time, even after a full night's sleep. My family tells me I look tired. Is this fatigue a common symptom of rheumatoid arthritis, or could it be something else?

Tired is an understatement, my friend! On flare-up days, even my shadow feels too heavy to carry around. Just accept that some days your bed is your best friend, and let your body enjoy the holiday!

Yes, chronic pain drains a lot of vital energy from our system. Practicing very gentle deep breathing and Yoga Nidra can help restore that internal energy without putting any strain on your aching joints.

I was constantly feeling exhausted and blamed my RA, but a blood test revealed my thyroid levels were completely out of range too. Please get your routine thyroid and vitamin D/B12 tests done alongside your arthritis follow-ups.

Sometimes the fatigue is so bad I can barely lift my arms to brush my hair, and it honestly frightens me. Does anyone else experience this kind of extreme, soul-crushing tiredness even when they aren't doing any physical work?

Oh, absolutely! The fatigue makes me so lazy that I can't even think of cooking, so I just end up ordering soup. I find that eating light, fresh meals instead of heavy, oily food helps a bit with the sluggishness.
