Does rheumatoid arthritis affect your eyes?

I've had rheumatoid arthritis for a long time, and now my eyes feel very dry and irritated all the time. My ophthalmologist said it might be related to my RA. Can rheumatoid arthritis really affect a person's eyes?

As if my creaking knees weren't enough, my doctor told me my dry eyes are also due to RA! Apparently, it loves targeting moisture-producing glands. I now carry lubricating drops everywhere like it is my premium perfume.

Yes, it can cause severe dryness and sometimes redness in the eyes. Please do not worry, but make sure to tell your doctor about this so they can recommend safe eye drops for you.

Just like how I must monitor my eyes because of high blood pressure, RA patients also need regular eye checkups. Chronic inflammation can affect any organ, so keeping your health parameters in check with routine visits is the only way.

My smart glasses actually track my blink rate and alert me when my eyes are getting too dry. Since RA can impact eye moisture, using these small digital prompts to rest your eyes can be a great daily habit.

Yes, dry eyes are a super common sidekick of RA! 😊 Just make sure to drink lots of water and ask your doctor for some soothing eye drops to keep them sparkling. Stay happy!

Bro, my eyes used to feel like they had sand in them every morning. My rheumatologist sent me to an eye doc and turns out it was dry eye syndrome from RA. Got some prescription drops and it is way better now.

Do not start putting random rose water or home remedies in your eyes if you have RA. Eye inflammation from RA can be serious and needs proper ophthalmologist evaluation, not internet tips. Go get them tested by a professional.

Eating foods rich in Omega-3, like walnuts and flaxseeds, has really helped reduce my general inflammatory symptoms, including eye dryness. Of course, keep up with your doctor's prescriptions, but diet plays a big supportive role too.

Yes, it can cause conditions like scleritis or episcleritis, which present as painful redness. My doctor explained that because RA is systemic, the blood vessels in the eyes can also get inflamed. They advised an annual eye exam for all RA patients.
