Does rheumatoid arthritis affect muscles and tendons?

I was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and I'm trying to understand all the ways it can affect my body. My joints are painful, but I also feel a lot of weakness and stiffness in my muscles and tendons. Is this normal with RA?

Absolutely, it does. RA is not just about the bones; the inflammation frequently spreads to the surrounding tendons and muscles, making them feel super tight and weak. Regular hot water fermentation and mild stretching under a physio's guidance worked wonders for me.

Beta, my hands also pain a lot, and the muscles around my wrists feel so weak sometimes. When the weather changes, it gets even worse. Just apply some warm mustard oil gently, but make sure to show it to a big doctor in the city.

Oh, definitely, the tendons can get quite inflamed and sore. But don't stress too much! Just discuss this with your doctor; they can suggest some light physiotherapy exercises that will really help keep your muscles flexible.

Honestly, I didn't know RA could affect muscles too, I always thought it was just a joint thing. My uncle has RA and he is always complaining about muscle stiffness in the mornings. It sounds really annoying to deal with.

Yes, inflammation can affect the tendons quite badly. Since I manage diabetes, I have to be very careful with chronic inflammation because it affects my blood sugar levels too. Make sure you get your inflammation markers tested regularly.

I panicked so much when my calves and ankles started aching, thinking my RA was worsening rapidly. But my doctor reassured me that tendon tightness is a very common part of this condition. Once we adjusted my medication, the pain became totally manageable.

I ignored the stiffness in my heel tendon for months, thinking it was just normal tiredness. It ended up getting severely inflamed, and now I regret not addressing it sooner. Please get your tendons checked by your rheumatologist before it worsens.

Oh god, yes, I constantly worry about my muscles wasting away because of the RA inflammation. Every little twitch makes me anxious. Please stay in touch with your doctor to make sure you are on the right treatment plan to protect your tendons.
