Does repatha cause muscle pain?

I've been on Repatha for managing my cholesterol for a while now. Recently, I've started experiencing some muscle aches and pains that I didn't have before. Could this medication be causing my muscle pain?

While statins are famous for causing muscle aches, my doctor explained that Repatha works differently as a PCSK9 inhibitor and has a much lower rate of muscle issues. However, some clinical trials did report mild back pain or muscle flu-like symptoms in a small percentage of patients. If you feel it, get a CPK blood test done to check for muscle inflammation.

It can cause some mild muscle aches in some people, but it is nowhere near as bad as statins. If the pain is bothering your daily routine, don't ignore it. Just talk to your cardiologist and they can adjust the dosage or suggest a supplement.

My brother-in-law had some leg cramps after starting this injection, and elders at home suggested applying warm sesame oil. It gave some temporary relief, but we consulted his doctor immediately. The doctor adjusted his other heart medicines and he is absolutely fine now.

Haan, sometimes body pain happens with these strong medicines. My neighbor used to feel heavy in the legs, but he drank plenty of water and it became okay in a few weeks. Do not stop taking the medicine on your own, discuss with your doctor first.

My father experienced mild back and muscle soreness when he started this injection. We noticed that keeping him well-hydrated and making sure he does light stretching really helped him cope. If the pain gets too sharp, definitely get it checked by his cardiologist.
