Does reading before bed help you sleep?

I've been having a lot of trouble falling asleep lately, and someone suggested reading a physical book before bed instead of looking at my phone. Does reading before bed actually help you sleep better, or is it just another myth people suggest for insomnia?

Oh, absolutely! Especially if it is an old history textbook, I am out in like two minutes flat. Jokes aside, it really does work wonders compared to doomscrolling on Instagram till 2 AM.

Reading good, positive literature before sleeping is an ancient and wonderful habit. It keeps bad thoughts away and calms the brain. Along with reading, drinking a glass of warm milk with a pinch of nutmeg can also help you get deep sleep.

Yes, reading a physical book really helps to quiet the mind after a long day. It feels like a gentle transition into sleep. I hope it helps you find some peaceful rest tonight.

Before you spend money on expensive sleep clinics, sleep studies, or melatonin supplements, try reading a paperback book for 20 minutes. It costs absolutely nothing, and it is the cheapest way to naturally cure mild insomnia.

I used to lie awake for hours with racing thoughts, feeling so anxious about not being able to sleep. Reading really saved me during that time because it gave my brain something neutral to focus on. It is a very safe and soothing habit to build.

I had terrible sleep issues for two years, and starting a reading habit changed everything. The key is to read an actual paper book under a dim light, not an iPad or phone screen, otherwise the blue light defeats the whole purpose. Give it a week and you will see a massive difference.

Reading a physical book or listening to soft instrumental music is a great natural way to wind down. However, if you are experiencing severe, chronic insomnia that affects your daily life, please consult a doctor instead of relying only on home tips.
