Does putting salt under your tongue help with migraine?

I suffer from severe migraines very often. A friend recently told me about a home remedy where you put a pinch of salt under your tongue. I wanted to know if putting salt under your tongue really helps with migraine pain.

Some people say a pinch of Himalayan salt under the tongue helps, but there is no real medical proof. Instead of risky salt tricks, just drink a big glass of water with a little lemon and ORS, as dehydration is often the main reason for migraines. It is much safer and works well.

Hey, please be careful with this salt trick. Taking concentrated salt like that can shoot up your blood pressure suddenly, which isn't safe at all. If you are in pain, just lie down in a quiet, dark room and sip some plain water slowly, okay?

Oh god, don't try these weird internet hacks, they sound so uncomfortable! A pinch of salt under the tongue is just going to make you feel thirsty and sick. Don't stress too much, just take a cool shower or put an ice pack on your neck, it is way better.

I used to try all kinds of hacks when my migraines were at their peak last year, including the salt under the tongue thing. Honestly, it did absolutely nothing for my pain and just left a horrible taste in my mouth. What actually helped me was regular sleep and doctor-prescribed medication.

I was actually reading about this on some health forums last night. Apparently, the idea is that the minerals in high-quality salt can help with electrolyte imbalance, but doctors don't recommend it. It seems like drinking an electrolyte drink is a much safer way to get the same benefit.

I tried this salt remedy once during a severe migraine attack and ended up vomiting and feeling extremely dizzy because of the sudden sodium spike. Please do not experiment with these things. If your migraine pain is very severe, please see a doctor immediately instead of trying home hacks.

Bro, my roommate told me about this salt trick during exams, but it honestly sounds like a recipe for high BP. I would rather just drink a cup of strong black coffee or take a nap. Don't believe everything you see on TikTok or reels.

As someone who has managed migraines for twenty years, I can tell you this salt myth is useless. What actually works is identifying your triggers like lack of sleep, loud noises, or skipped meals. Keep a trigger diary and follow your doctor's treatment plan consistently.
