Does psoriasis affect fingernails?

Dealing with psoriasis on my skin for a long time, I've recently started noticing strange changes in my fingernails, like tiny pits and discoloration. Can psoriasis actually affect the fingernails too?

Yes, it definitely can. I have had psoriasis for twenty years and my nails developed small pits and became yellowish. Don't worry, with proper treatment from a good doctor, it stays under control.

Yes, nail psoriasis is very common. You might see tiny pits, discoloration, or even nails lifting from the bed. Get a proper diagnosis from a dermatologist instead of treating it as a simple fungal infection.

I completely understand how scary it is when you suddenly see your nails changing shape or getting brittle. I panicked so much thinking it was something worse, but my skin doctor reassured me it's just psoriasis. Take a deep breath, you are going to be okay.

Oh, it does! When my nail psoriasis flared up, it was so hard to even enjoy golgappas with my hands. Eating anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric and avoiding too much gluten helped me a bit.

It was so embarrassing for me to show my hands to anyone at work when my fingernails got affected. It really took a toll on my self-confidence, but please know you are not alone in this fight. It gets better with targeted therapy.
