Does propylene glycol cause cancer?

I was checking the ingredients list of some of my cosmetic products and saw propylene glycol. I vaguely remember reading something about it being linked to cancer. Is this ingredient considered carcinogenic, or is it safe?

Don't worry, eating a piece of cake with food coloring or putting on some moisturizer isn't going to turn you into a superhero or cause cancer. Propylene glycol is in almost everything and is considered quite safe!

From what I have seen over my years in this group, health authorities like the WHO and FDA consider pharmaceutical-grade propylene glycol safe in foods and cosmetics. Unless you are consuming it in extreme, industrial quantities, you don't need to worry about cancer.

There is no strong evidence linking propylene glycol to cancer at normal exposure levels. However, if you are experiencing skin reactions or digestive issues from products containing it, please consult a healthcare professional for safety.

No, major global health organizations do not classify propylene glycol as a carcinogen. It is safe in everyday products.

Over my fifty years of living, I have seen so many scare campaigns about different chemicals on the internet. Propylene glycol has been used safely in foods and medicines for decades, so you can rest easy.
