Does prednisone affect liver enzymes?

I'm currently on a course of Prednisone for an inflammatory condition. My last blood test showed slightly elevated liver enzymes. Could this elevation be a side effect of the Prednisone I'm taking?

Yes, prednisone can cause a temporary rise in ALT and AST levels. It is quite common, and we usually suggest a routine liver function test (LFT) during long courses.

Haan na, it can temporarily fluctuate your liver enzymes. My doctor told me it goes back to normal after the course is done, so don't take tension.

It can affect them, so my doctor told me to avoid heavy greasy food while on it. It’s hard to ignore parathas, but it's safer for your liver!

It definitely spikes them, making my liver look like it partied hard when I was actually just taking my allergy meds! It recovers soon, don't worry.

Yes, prednisone can cause your liver enzymes to elevate temporarily. Discuss with your doctor for peace of mind.
