Does popcorn cause kidney stones?
I've had kidney stones in the past, and I'm very careful about my diet now. My grandchildren love popcorn, and I sometimes join them. Does popcorn cause kidney stones, or is it generally safe to eat in moderation?

Popcorn itself doesn't directly cause kidney stones, but the heavy salt and butter on it can increase sodium levels, which is bad for your kidneys. Try to keep your physical activity high with daily brisk walking, and drink plenty of water to flush out toxins.
I have seen this question quite often. Popcorn actually has a small amount of oxalates, but eating it occasionally in normal portions won't cause stones. The key is to stay hydrated throughout the day so that calcium and oxalates don't bind in your kidneys.
At my age, every snack feels like a health hazard! Popcorn is actually a low-calorie fiber-rich snack, so it's much better than eating fried chips. Just don't put half a block of butter and a handful of salt on it, and your kidneys will be perfectly happy.
You can eat popcorn in moderation, but always make sure to drink lemon water or coconut water daily to naturally keep your kidneys clean. However, if you are experiencing severe lower back pain or burning while urinating, please see a doctor immediately instead of trying home remedies.
Man, if popcorn caused kidney stones, I would have a quarry inside me by now given how much I eat during my late-night movie sessions! Just drink enough water along with it and you should be totally fine, don't lose sleep over this.
