Does polypropylene cause cancer?

We've been using a lot of plastic containers made of polypropylene for food storage at home. My wife saw something on social media about it being unsafe. I just wanted to ask, does polypropylene cause cancer?

Polypropylene is actually considered one of the safer plastics and isn't classified as a carcinogen. I researched this heavily when setting up my kitchen containers. Just make sure you don't heat food in low-grade plastic containers, even if they claim to be microwave-safe.

Nahi bhaiya, isse cancer hone ka koi bada saboot nahi hai. Yeh toh humare dabe aur botalon mein hota hai. Bas zyada garam cheezein plastic mein mat rakha kariye, mitti ya kanch ka bartan sabse badhiya hota hai.

My grandmother always insisted on storing food in steel vessels instead of plastic, which is very wise. While scientific studies say food-grade polypropylene is safe and doesn't cause cancer, sticking to stainless steel or glass is always a safer, traditional choice.

These modern plastics are everywhere now, but they don't cause cancer if they are of good quality. Still, for storing pickles or ghee, always use glass or ceramic jars like we did in the old days. It keeps the food pure and free from any chemical taste.

Please don't worry too much. Polypropylene is widely used in medical gear and food containers because it is stable and safe, so it doesn't cause cancer. Take care and stay positive.

I can only speak from my own experience of setting up a plastic-free kitchen. I haven't found any research linking polypropylene to cancer, as it is used even in baby bottles. I personally still prefer glass just for personal satisfaction, but polypropylene is widely considered safe.

Bro, polypropylene is code 5 plastic which is totally food-grade and non-toxic. I use shaker bottles made of this for my gym protein daily. There is zero link to cancer, so don't sweat it.

While it is considered a safe and non-carcinogenic material, I prefer reducing plastic use entirely by using copper or clay bottles. If you ever feel unwell or have unexplained digestive issues, please consult a doctor instead of blaming your household plastic.

Honestly, I'm too tired from my night shifts to worry about polypropylene causing cancer. Half my late-night food deliveries come in these plastic containers! But jokes apart, it is generally considered the safest of all plastics, so you can sleep easy.

I have looked into this because of similar questions in the group. Polypropylene is heat-resistant and doesn't leach harmful chemicals easily, so it is not a cancer risk. However, replacing old, scratched plastic containers with steel is always a good practice.
