Does pedialyte help with fever?

My son has a high fever, and I'm worried about him getting dehydrated. My friend said Pedialyte is good for fever, but I always thought it was just for diarrhea. Does Pedialyte help with fever and keep them hydrated?

I have a mild fever since morning and feel very weak. Will drinking Pedialyte help bring the body temperature down, or is it only for stomach issues? Please advise gently.

Haan, it helps a lot but indirectly na. Fever makes your body lose water very fast due to sweating, so drinking this keeps your hydration levels high. But paracetamol is what actually reduces the fever.

If you have a busy week, don't let dehydration drag you down. Pedialyte is great for a quick electrolyte boost when you can't eat properly due to fever. But if the fever stays high for more than 48 hours, see a doctor immediately.

I was just reading up on this because my roommate has a bad viral fever. It seems Pedialyte is just for rehydration, not a cure for the actual infection. Still good to keep a few bottles handy during flu season.

Pedialyte can be slightly expensive if you buy it regularly. You can also use standard Electral pouches from the local chemist which are much cheaper and do the same job of keeping you hydrated during a fever.
