Does pcos run in families?

My mother and my elder sister both have PCOS, and I was recently diagnosed myself. It made me wonder if this condition tends to affect families. Does PCOS run in families, or is it just a coincidence for us?

In my family, both my elder sister and my mother have been dealing with PCOS symptoms like irregular periods. I have noticed a very strong pattern on my mother's side. It seems there is definitely a genetic link based on what I have seen at home.

Actually, yes, it does run in families, yaar. My massi has it, my sister has it, and now I have been diagnosed too. It is like our family's unwanted inheritance, but we all just manage it together with a better lifestyle.

It is so scary when you realize your family members have it and you might get it too; I totally understand that anxiety. But even if it runs in your family, it doesn't mean your symptoms will be exactly as severe as theirs. Knowing your family history just helps you stay prepared and proactive.

Yes, genetics play a big role in PCOS. But instead of worrying about our family tree, we can focus on simple household habits. If everyone in the family shifts to eating less refined sugar and going for a walk after dinner, it helps everyone manage their health together.

Yes, it does run in families, and ignoring this connection cost me a lot of pain later with severe fertility issues. Since my mother had it, I should have been more careful. Please don't wait for symptoms to worsen; consult a specialist early if you have a family history.
