Does pcos cause large pores?

My skin has always been a concern, and lately, I've noticed my facial pores seem much larger and more noticeable. I have PCOS, and I'm trying to figure out if this skin change is related. Does PCOS cause large pores on the skin?

Yes, hormonal changes can cause excess oil on the face, which stretches out the pores. Just like managing blood pressure, keeping a clean diet and regular doctor checkups are important to control these symptoms.

I used to feel so self-conscious looking at my face in bright sunlight because of the large pores and oily skin. It is totally normal to feel upset about it, but please know it is just a common PCOS symptom.

When my sister visited the dermatology department at Apollo, the doctor clearly explained that high androgens in PCOS expand the pores. It is best to consult a proper specialist for a safe treatment.

Clinically, the excess sebum produced due to high male hormones clogs and enlarges the skin pores. Using a gentle salicylic acid face wash twice a week can keep them clean and less visible.

In my personal experience, my face became extremely oily with very visible pores when my PCOS was unchecked. Once my cycles became regular with lifestyle changes, my skin texture improved on its own.

Hormones affect our skin texture drastically, and I face similar issues with my thyroid. I highly suggest getting your thyroid and hormone levels tested regularly to manage the root cause.
