Does paxlovid reduce fever?

My grandmother recently tested positive for COVID-19, and the doctor prescribed Paxlovid. She has a high fever right now, and we're hoping this medication helps quickly. Does Paxlovid reduce fever, or is it mainly for other symptoms?

Paxlovid targets the virus itself, which eventually helps bring down the infection and fever. While taking it, you can drink warm giloy or ginger water to feel better, but please monitor your temperature closely and consult your doctor if the fever stays very high.

Paxlovid is an antiviral, not a simple paracetamol to reduce fever instantly. It works by stopping the virus from multiplying, which will eventually lower your fever. Make sure you take the exact dosage your doctor prescribed and don't skip meals.

Yes, as it fights off the viral infection, your fever should start going down! Just make sure to rest a lot and keep yourself hydrated. You'll get through this soon! 👍

Paxlovid will help resolve the overall viral symptoms, including fever, by tackling the root cause. However, if you run a very high fever or experience difficulty breathing, please seek immediate emergency medical care. Do not self-medicate.

By clearing the viral load, Paxlovid helps your body recover and reduces the fever. Once the fever is completely gone and your doctor permits, you can start with light indoor mobility to get your energy levels back up. For now, complete rest is key.
