Does ovarian cyst pain come and go?

I've been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst a while back, and sometimes I get sharp pains in my lower abdomen that don't last very long. Is it normal for ovarian cyst pain to be intermittent, or should I be concerned if it comes and goes?

Yes, just like my blood pressure fluctuates, cyst pain can definitely be intermittent depending on your cycle. Regular health checkups are very important to make sure the cyst isn't growing or causing complications.

My cyst pain used to come and go, especially when I had heavy cravings around my periods. Honestly, a warm bowl of soup helps with the temporary discomfort, but you should definitely get a scan to see if the cyst needs attention.

Yes, it absolutely can. The pain often comes and goes depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle or if the cyst is putting pressure on nearby organs. If the pain becomes sudden and severe, go to the hospital immediately.

I dealt with a 5cm cyst last year and the pain was very random, coming and going throughout the month. Keep a heat bag ready for those sudden aches, but make sure your gynecologist is monitoring it every few months.

I totally get it, dealing with that sharp pain that randomly appears and disappears is so frustrating and stressful. It is very common for cyst pain to behave this way, but please do get an ultrasound to keep track of its size.

I used to panic every time I felt a twinge in my lower side, thinking the cyst had ruptured. The pain fluctuating is actually quite normal, but getting a doctor to confirm it via scan is the only way to stop worrying.

Yes, cyst pain is notorious for being unpredictable, often peaking around ovulation or periods. It's a very common issue, but it is always wise to have a doctor check it to make sure it doesn't need medical intervention.
