Does otezla work differently for psoriasis vs psoriatic arthritis?

I have both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, and my doctor is considering Otezla. I'm wondering if the medication targets both conditions in the same way, or if its mechanism of action is different for the skin symptoms versus the joint issues.

It's the same medicine but acts on both fronts! It cleared my skin patches and also made my fingers less stiff, which meant I could finally cook and eat my favorite dishes comfortably again without pain.

Though it is the same pill, for skin psoriasis it works by clearing the red patches, while for arthritis it targets the deep joint swelling. I tried many herbal ointments, but only systemic medical treatment like this can handle both together.

The mechanism is the same—it blocks PDE4 to control inflammation. But you might see skin clearance faster than the joint pain relief. Keep taking it regularly as prescribed and don't expect joint stiffness to go away overnight.

Dawaai toh ek hi hai babu, par chamdi ki bimari aur jodon ke dard dono pe asar karti hai. Humare parivar mein ek ko diya tha, unka dard bhi thik hua aur daag bhi kam ho gaye.

From what I understand about systemic inflammatory issues, the drug targets the source of inflammation. It works on both skin and joints, but the timeline for recovery in arthritis is usually longer. Don't compare your skin progress with your joint progress.

It is frustrating when you take a pill and your skin clears up but your knees still hurt. It works differently in terms of response time for both. Hang in there, the emotional toll of dealing with both skin and joint pain is heavy, but give the drug time.

It treats both conditions, but for the joint aspect of psoriatic arthritis, you must support the medication with low-impact exercises like swimming or cycling once the acute pain subsides. It keeps the joints mobile.
