Does osteopenia cause pain?
My mother was recently diagnosed with osteopenia, and she's very worried about future complications. She's also complaining of some aches and pains. Does osteopenia cause pain, or is that usually due to other conditions?

Osteopenia itself is usually silent and does not cause direct bone pain. However, if you are feeling deep bone or joint pain, please get a DEXA scan and consult a doctor immediately to rule out microfractures.
I was diagnosed with osteopenia fifteen years ago. At that stage, there was no pain at all, and I only found out during a routine health camp checkup. Don't worry, with proper calcium and daily walks, you can manage it easily.
Just like high BP, osteopenia is a silent condition and doesn't pain on its own. It's only when we ignore it and it leads to a fracture that the severe pain starts. Keep doing regular bone density tests and walking daily.
Listen, osteopenia is just a warning sign that your bone density is slightly low. It doesn't cause pain on its own, so if you are hurting, please see a doctor. We need to make sure you aren't ignoring something else, okay?
My mother's doctor at Apollo told us very clearly that osteopenia has zero symptoms. If there is pain, it could be due to vitamin D deficiency or muscle strain. Ask your doctor to run some blood tests to find the real cause.
Bones don't pain in osteopenia, but to keep them strong, eat sesame seeds, ragi, and drink a glass of warm milk daily. Keep your body moving gently. If the pain is sharp, do not do any self-treatment, go to a bone doctor.
Good news is osteopenia doesn't actually cause pain! It is just a friendly wake-up call to start lifting light weights and drinking your milk. Keep smiling and stay active!
Because of my thyroid issues, my bone density is always on the lower side. But osteopenia itself doesn't cause pain. Get your thyroid and calcium levels checked regularly as they are closely linked.
I was diagnosed with mild osteopenia last year and was so paranoid about bone aches. But my orthopedician explained it's completely silent. My aches were just due to bad posture and sitting all day at my desk.

My mom has osteopenia and she never complained of bone pain. Her doctor said if there is pain, it's mostly due to low Vitamin D3. Get your D3 levels checked, it's very common in India.
Biologically, osteopenia is asymptomatic. I track my daily calcium intake and steps on my fitness app to prevent it from turning into osteoporosis. If you have pain, look into your posture or muscular recovery.
A lot of people confuse muscle aches with bone pain from osteopenia. Osteopenia itself doesn't hurt. Make sure you are taking enough sunlight and keeping up with your calcium supplements regularly.
