Does omeprazole cause kidney problems?

I've been relying on omeprazole for my acidity for ages now. My friend was telling me to be careful because it might cause kidney problems. Is there any truth to this?

While taking it for a few days is fine, using it for months might stress your kidneys. I prefer managing my acidity with cold milk or fennel water (saunf ka pani) in the morning. But if you have severe pain or kidney symptoms, please consult a specialist immediately.

If you are taking Omeprazole daily and are worried about your kidneys, don't keep stressing over it. A simple blood test for creatinine and blood urea costs just 400 rupees. Plan this small checkup once, show it to your doctor, and you will have complete peace of mind.

Look, prolonged use of PPIs like Omeprazole has been linked to acute kidney injury in rare cases. If you've been on it for months, you need to talk to your doc about tapering off. Don't just continue taking it daily on your own.

It can affect if taken for years and years without checking, ho na. My relative was popping them daily like mints and had some minor kidney issues later. It's always better to get a proper prescription and not self-medicate.

I've been told by my family doctor that long-term use of acidity tablets can sometimes affect kidney function. The simple solution is to not take them on your own without a prescription. Just eat your dinner early by 8 PM, and you won't need these pills as often.

I got super scared when I read about PPIs and kidney health online. But my doctor explained that a standard 14-day course is completely safe and won't harm your kidneys. It's only an issue if you abuse it for years, so you can relax!
