Does omeprazole cause cancer?

I've been on Omeprazole for my GERD for quite some time. Recently, I read some articles online linking it to serious health issues. Does omeprazole cause cancer, or is this just misinformation?

Please take a deep breath. Omeprazole does not cause cancer; in fact, it helps heal severe acid reflux and ulcers that could otherwise lead to serious complications. Don't let random internet rumors scare you, but do avoid taking it for years without a doctor's supervision.

People worry so much because of internet posts, ho na. Omeprazole is a standard medicine for acidity, it doesn't cause cancer. But taking acidity tablets like candy every day for years is also not good, better to check with your doctor.

I have diabetes and occasionally need Omeprazole for gas. My physician assured me there is no direct link to cancer. To avoid needing acidity pills, try to focus on eating small, timely meals and avoiding heavy, sugary snacks late at night.

I took Omeprazole daily for almost two years for a bad stomach ulcer, and I had the same cancer fear. My gastrologist cleared my doubts: untreated chronic acid reflux actually poses a higher risk than the medicine itself. Focus on tapering off the medicine slowly by changing your diet.

I was actually researching this online because my dad takes it daily. While some studies mention a very small risk with extremely long-term usage (like over 10 years), there is no evidence of short-term use causing cancer. Still, it's a good reminder to get his prescription reviewed.

If Omeprazole caused cancer, half of our country would be in trouble because we pop acidity pills after every heavy wedding feast! Don't worry, it's safe. Just don't make it your permanent companion for life.

Let's be clear: there's no solid clinical evidence proving Omeprazole causes cancer. It's an FDA-approved drug used by millions. If you are taking it daily for more than a few weeks, though, you need to find the root cause of your acidity instead of self-medicating.
