Does olive oil help dandruff?

I've been having dandruff issues for months now, and nothing seems to work properly. My dadi told me to try warm olive oil massages. Is there any truth to this claim, or should I just stick to shampoos?

I also have very bad dandruff and dry scalp lately. Someone told me olive oil works, but I am scared it will make my hair too oily and cause hair fall. Did it actually work for anyone here or did it make it worse?

Actually, it can be a hit or miss. If your dandruff is due to dry scalp, olive oil might moisturize it, but if it is fungal, heavy oils can actually feed the fungus and worsen it. It is always safer to consult a dermatologist once to understand your scalp type.

I tried olive oil once for dandruff, but honestly, focusing on my water intake and keeping my stress down helped my skin more. Sometimes these scalp issues are linked to our internal health and blood circulation. Get a basic health checkup done if it doesn't go away.

Honestly, dont do it. Olive oil is too thick and just clogs the hair follicles, making dandruff cling to your scalp even more. Just buy a proper ketoconazole shampoo from the chemist, it works much faster.

I literally just resolved my dandruff issue last week! I used to apply warm olive oil, but my doc told me to stop immediately because it feeds the yeast. Switched to a prescribed anti-dandruff lotion and my scalp is finally clean.
