Does olive oil help arthritis?

My mother has been struggling with joint pain from arthritis for a while now. Someone in our family WhatsApp group suggested applying olive oil. Just wanted to know if this actually helps or if it's just a home remedy with no real benefit.

Look, olive oil won't magically cure arthritis, let's be real. But it does have good anti-inflammatory properties if you replace your regular refined oil with extra virgin olive oil. I switched last year and it slightly helped with daily stiffness, but you still need your proper medical treatment.

Haan, extra virgin olive oil is quite good actually! My chachi has bad knee pain and she started using it in salads, and it helps reduce that internal swelling na. Par replace your normal cooking oil slowly, direct peene se kuch nahi hoga.

It has oleocanthal which acts similar to anti-inflammatory meds, so yes, it's great for joint health. But don't rely only on oil; keeping your weight in check and doing low-impact joint strengthening exercises is what actually saves your knees long-term.

Dealing with chronic inflammation is so exhausting, I totally feel you. I have PCOS and use olive oil to keep inflammation down, but honestly, it is just a small supportive step. Please check with your rheumatologist before changing your diet too drastically.

It has helped my husband a little bit with his morning joint pain. We just use a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil over our home-cooked food. I hope you get some relief from your pain soon.

If olive oil could cure arthritis, half of Italy would be doing gymnastics in their 90s! Jokes aside, it does help ease joint stiffness a bit due to the good fats. Just don't go frying pakodas in it, use it raw in salads.
