Does mucinex night shift put you to sleep?

I work night shifts and have been feeling congested. I was considering taking Mucinex Night Shift for my cold symptoms, but I need to be alert at work. Will this medicine make me drowsy or affect my ability to stay awake?

I took it last night and felt so heavily drugged, it was almost scary because I couldn't wake up easily in the morning. Did anyone else experience this severe morning hangover effect? I'm scared to take it again tonight.

I totally get it, being sick and not being able to sleep is the absolute worst. This medicine really helps knock you out so you can get some peaceful rest without coughing constantly. I hope you feel better and get some good sleep tonight.

It definitely puts you to sleep because of the sleep-inducing active ingredients inside. A practical tip is to never take it if you have less than 8 hours to sleep. Also, drink lots of water the next morning to flush out the grogginess.

My college-going son took this when he was down with a terrible cold and he slept through all his morning alarms. It is very effective for sleep, but please make sure your kids don't have exams or early morning classes the next day.

Yes, it will put you to sleep, but remember that clean hydration and deep breathing exercises also help recovery. Try to avoid heavy workouts while you're on this because your body's reaction time and coordination will be quite low due to the drowsiness.
